Have you noticed your kiddos struggling with this concept?
I made the posters and a little word work game to go along with the three sounds of "ed".
Punctuation is such a tough one. Kids are using periods on every other word, question marks where there should be exclamation points and sometimes there's...well....no punctuation at all.
I made these posters that I have in my classroom all year. At the beginning of the year, when I'm teaching about expression, I use the worksheets so that we can practice reading with expression in response to punctuation {just like the common core says I have to}.
These FREE posters are aligned with the 1st grade Common Core, but can be used in K-3.
This one's available in my TpT store for FREE!
Do you see how I spend my Friday nights? WINNER! :)

Wow! You are an amazing lady! I so appreciate your hard work, creativity and generosity. Thank you. I am a first/second grade teacher in California and even though we haven't adopted common core yet, I will definitely be able to use these cute posters and worksheets. Thanks again! Julie
Thank you so much! Such pretty posters. Love them!
I love that you made a recording a sheet and activity to go along with your -ed posters. Just a poster isn't usually enough for my kinders as a reminder because they forget what they pictures mean. This will help it stick. Thank you! :)

Thanks! The new common core are off the hook! We had our district mapping last week...sounds like they are going to be tricky, but after 10 years of teaching the old standards, I'm looking forward to a change.

These are awesome! Thanks for sharing! When I first introduced the concept of the three sounds, we made a flip book, but this would be great to post with it and keep it up the rest of the year!! Loving the punctuation marks also! So cute! Thanks again! ~Heidi V.
I teach 4th and some of my students still have issues with spelling words with -ed endings. These are a great resources and we'll be using them this coming week.
Wow, these are great! Thanks.

I heart everything about this post! You are amazing Rachelle! Big bloggy hugs for you!
I always leave your blog excited to try your wonderful activities with my kiddos!
Did you know that the only time -ed says -ed is when the word ends in a d or t...I tell my kiddos to look for the 2 brothers DED and TED and this helps them soooo much! =)

Super cute, thank you so much for sharing! I have some kiddos doing LLI {Leveled Literacy Intervention by F & P} that are currently working on this skill in group time!
I was working on my "Leapin' Leprechauns" unit last night, too! Too bad everyone can't just skype, drink, and work all at the same time:)

Well, can reading teaching blogs on a Saturday night be any worse? Thank you for your hard work!
Do you find that your students are tempted to pronounce "missed" as "mist" after learning this concept?
Love your -ed posters! We learned this a while back and some of my kids are still reading the -ed as a different sound than it is supposed to be... so frustrating to teach reading in English! :)

Hi there! This is my first drive by of your blog... LOVE IT! :0) Your suffix ed set is PRECIOUS and I know my kids will love it too! Thank you so much for sharing! I am fairly new to teacher blogging and TPT but I would love to have you stop by sometime!~ Kristine www.oursmartcommunity.blogspot.com
These posters are great! :)
A fun activity I do with the sounds of ed is to let them make paper airplanes. I ask them to fold them, sail them across the room, and the planes crash. Then we discuss how they were "folded" (/ed/), "sailed" (/d/), and then they "crashed" (/t/). Just a fun activity that they're sure to love! :)
This is a great idea! I’ll download these posters and have the printed too. I’m sure my children would be in love with these posters to avoid grammar mistakes!
I am sure they do. Poor kids.
