Then, we do this writing activity:
Then, we draw a self-portrait of our moms!
Then, we decorate our posters with these {I let the kiddos pick 3 or 4 to use. They decorate them and glue them on}
On one side we glue the "Top Ten" list, and the other side, the portrait. I also like to laminate them!

I am a new teacher, and I love this idea. I just had one question. How do you approach a situation where the mother is not in the child's life? Any ideas appreciated.
I love this idea! Thanks!

I need to work out a way to get this blog post to my sons' teachers so I can receive a poster!!
Failing that, I think I will send it over to Husband as a subtle hint.

Thank you so much for sharing this! We used the writing prompt and poster decorations for cards and they were adorable!
My students and I loved this project! When I sent them home and asked them on Monday what their Mom's thought of their Mother's Day present many responses that their moms loved it and a couple even cried! :)
Thank you for sharing this!!!! I took the top 10 list and turned it into a book. We attached the long, thin pages to the bottom of 12x12 shimmery scrapbook paper, made a 6x6 portrait and and 6x6 handpring and attached them above the book....turned out SO cute!! And I got so many compliments from moms that were brought to tears! Thank you for the great resource!
